Welcome to our Preschool/Head Start
Hello! We are so excited to welcome you to Muhlenberg South Elementary Head Start/ Preschool as your child begins their educational journey. We look forward to partnering with you through out the year to help your child succeed.
There are a few things you need to know before your child begins preschool.
We will send home Parent/Educator Communication Folders daily. Make sure you check your child’s folder each day. There may not be anything in the folder, but this is the best way for us to communicate with you and for you to communicate with us. In your folder you will find a weekly newsletter. This will give you information about upcoming events, announcements, reminders and information about what our study will be as well.
Students will have a cubby to keep their folders and to store their papers. Unfortunately the cubbies are not big enough to allow the children to bring backpacks. We know that this can be disappointing for children, but please help us follow this rule. Also we have to ask that children leave their toys at home as well.
We need each child to bring in an extra set of clothes- pants, shirt, undergarments and socks. Children may need a change of clothes for a variety of reasons including toileting accidents and lunchroom spills. Please label all of your children’s clothes and place them in a zip lock bag with your child’s name.
We also ask you to please label your child’s coats, hats and gloves as well. Often children may have identical coats and we want to make sure you get your child’s coat at the end of the day.
Your child will be given a toothbrush and will be asked to brush their teeth daily. Encourage your child to practice this at home daily as well.
We love parent volunteers in the classroom. We can definitely use the extra hands and will be glad to have your help. If you are interested please complete the Leadership Request Form (volunteer background check) and wait until you receive notification before coming to volunteer- this may take several weeks.
If you have any questions feel free to give us a call between 7:30-8:00 and 3:00-3:30 at 476-9841. If you prefer, you can also send an e-mail to us at school at [email protected] - just remember that we may not get your message to the end of the day so this should not be used for transportation changes.
Thank you again for allowing us the privilege of working with your child and your family!
